A letter from a local
Biggest little basecamp in America.
Reno's redemption arc is real. The Truckee River runs through downtown with a whitewater park at Wingfield — I've surfed a wave on my lunch break, in a city with a real airport and rent that won't ruin you.
Mt. Rose is the headline: 35–40 minutes from midtown to an 8,260-foot base, the highest in Tahoe, and the whole lake's worth of resorts fans out within an hour. Summer means Peavine's trails off the north end, Tahoe's east shore twenty-five minutes up the hill, and granite bouldering scattered through the hills.
You're not moving to Reno for Reno. You're moving to everything within sixty minutes of it — and quietly, the town keeps getting better while you're out playing.
