A letter from a local
The deepest hot spring on earth, and it’s downtown.
The Mother Spring here is the deepest measured geothermal spring in the world, and its pools terrace right down to the San Juan River in the middle of town. Soaking while snow falls into 105-degree water is not a vacation memory here. It's Tuesday.
Wolf Creek — 'the most snow in Colorado,' and they have the receipts — is thirty minutes up the pass with zero condo sprawl at its base. The San Juan fishes through downtown, Turkey Springs' singletrack rolls fifteen minutes west, and the Piedra's wilderness whitewater and the Weminuche's peaks fill the long days.
Pagosa is what Colorado towns were before the money found them. The money is looking. Beat it here.
