The Swamp Rabbit changed everything.

Greenville built a 28-mile rail-trail — the Swamp Rabbit — straight through downtown, past the waterfall in Falls Park (yes, a real waterfall, downtown), and the whole city reorganized its life around it. Coffee by bike, work by bike, Travelers Rest by bike.

Paris Mountain's singletrack is twenty minutes north, and the Blue Ridge Escarpment stacks up behind it: Jones Gap and Caesars Head trails at thirty-five minutes, the Green River Narrows' famous whitewater and the Saluda's mellower runs inside forty. Table Rock's granite dome anchors the skyline hikes.

Add one of the South's best small downtowns and a BMW-anchored job market, and Greenville is the sneaky-complete package below the Mason-Dixon.
